Words of encouragement

Words of encouragement – Homeschool your child

Anything that you do 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year will eventually bring you to discouragement.  Nothing can be that positive ALL of the time.   That is why we need encouragement.  When our husbands are working long hours and they need encouragement, we as wives are the ones they turn to in those times of need.  Just as when we homeschool our children.  We don’t get to be away from them much, sometimes it is frustrating.  Life gets crabby and hard.  But how do we watch so that those discouraging things don’t start to creep up and take over our lives?

  1. Defend our minds.   We need to rebuke negative thoughts immediately.  Don’t let them take root and fester.  We need to focus on God’s word.  Memorize new scriptures and place them on index cards and put on walls, in front of the kitchen sinks, anywhere that you will constantly see them to be reminded throughout the day.
  2. Watch the scheduling.  Do not overbook the calendar.  Be selective in your activities.  Sometimes it is okay to stay at home more than other people you know. It creates more of a peaceful setting when we aren’t out running around all of the time.
  3. Grasp reality.  Sometimes it is good to speak things out loud.  Say “I cannot do it all and that is okay!”  Focus on what needs to be done ….what REALLY needs to be done and let the optional activities slip away.
  4. Take breaks.  Sometimes it is good to stop doing your “curriculum” and take a few days and read some good books together.  Take a mini field trip.  Explore your backyard.  Do something out of the “norm” and get a break from the monotonous task of school work.

What we all need to do is just relax.  Homeschooling is a journey that we are on it is not a marathon.  We need to take our days one day at a time.  Cut out the curriculum and just explore together. You will be amazed at how much learning just happens from living and loving together as a family.  Share and receive ideas and encouragement from other homeschool moms….click here http://www.myhomeschoolroadmap.com/
